2019 NJ Spartan Ultra
Race: 2019 NJ Spartan Ultra - Vernon, NJ April 27, 2019 Time: 8:45:40 Place: 4/31 in my AG, 8/242 Overall Pre-Race Conditions: Writing this on the road somewhere in the middle of Pennsylvania as we keep going in and out of rain. Hopefully it blows north around the course. I’m all for muddy climbs but not wet grip obstacles. I’m going into this one after a great running training block. 2 weeks of 60+ miles followed by a good taper. My biggest concern is my grip strength especially if the obstacles are going to be wet and muddy. The last few weeks have been focused on running and mobility with some rock climbing for strength. I’m feeling strong but my nervousness has to go somewhere and that’s where I’ve apparently placed it for this race. The course looks like the same route as last year with some of the obstacles moved around. That ¼ mile sandbag is there again which leaves an easier bucket brigade.
